Ambition realignment
It’s already becoming woefully apparent that my goal of 20 hours a week on top of my regular day job as well as trying to force my way through one course after another was incredibly naive.
While I do want to develop quickly this is a marathon and not a sprint and it is also ultimately something I want to do because I’m enjoying it.
I’ve also come to realize that my initial focus should really be more on just modeling without bringing in all the other layers on top too quickly.
With this in mind instead of trying to stick rigidly to a fixed schedule I want to commit myself instead to just regularly involving myself in some aspect of learning or creating, with a bigger emphasis on creating. I think the best way to hold myself accountable to that is this blog itself. As long as I’m adding a substantive article at least every 2-3 days that demonstrates some effort in some aspect of Blender then I’m building the habit that I want to build. Becoming a bit more focused in specific directions can come later.
I also think this blog itself serves me greatly as a tool for learning, both by being a good form of self-reflection and critique of my own work and as a way to reinforce my understanding of a topic by trying to explain it.
